Sea Lantern Studio

Vega Mare is an author and former senior cruise ship officer whose work moves between cultural narrative, atmospheric nonfiction, and cinematic fable. She spent more than fifteen years working at sea in senior operational roles across multiple vessels and cruise lines, developing a discipline shaped by clarity, observation, and the architecture of place.

She is the author of Inside the Floating City, part memoir, part operational record, part contemporary maritime history, written from inside the system it describes. Her second book, The Discerning Voyager, is a senior officer's guide to choosing the right cruise voyage, written for people who cannot afford to get it wrong. A third work is in progress.

Her writing is shaped by many ways of looking at the world, drawn from an international upbringing, years at sea across cultures and latitudes, a deep engagement with East Asian philosophy and history, and travel through remote and historically layered regions.

She is also the founder of The Officer's Desk, where she applies twenty-five years of hospitality and operational knowledge to help people make better cruise decisions.
